HC Deb 13 August 1904 vol 140 c518
THE MASTER OF ELIBANK (Edinburgh, Midlothian)

I beg to ask the hon. Member for North Huntingdonshire, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether he is in a position to make any further statement with regard to swine fever in Midlothian and the very considerable grievance felt by the farmers on the borders thereof.

* MR. AILWYN FELLOWES (Huntingdonshire, Ramsey)

was understood to say, in reply, that the county of Midlothian was now free from the disease, with the exception, perhaps, of two spots which might still be looked upon as dangerous. He understood the complaint was that the three counties bordering on Midlothian would not accept swine freely from Midlothian. He would venture to suggest that they should do all in their power to get the two spots clear and when that was done they would have a strong case to put before the adjoining counties for the removal of the restrictions against their pigs.
