HC Deb 12 August 1904 vol 140 c400
MR. SLOAN

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of his intention to increase the staff of factory inspectors next year, he will consider the advisability of appointing a female inspector for Ireland.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Akers-Douglas.) The need for increased inspection in Ireland will be one of the considerations to which I shall give special weight in framing my proposals, but to appoint a lady inspector for Ireland only would be contrary to the system on which the lady inspectors' department is organised, and I can give no promise on the subject.
