HC Deb 12 August 1904 vol 140 cc412-3
MR. ERNEST GRAY (West Ham, N.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Board of Education whether his attention has been drawn to the decision of the Education Committee of the West Riding of Yorkshire to deduct from the salaries of voluntary school teachers an amount proportionate to the time spent by such teachers in giving denominational teaching; and, if so, whether, in view of the obligation to maintain these schools, as required by The Education Act, 1902, he will state what action he proposes to take to protect managers and teachers concerned.

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY To THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (Sir WILLIAM ANSON,) Oxford University

I have nothing to add to my Answer to the Question on this subject which was addressed to me by the hon. Member for North Camberwell on Monday last.†
