HC Deb 09 August 1904 vol 139 cc1565-6
MR. SLOAN

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether he can state under what circumstances the wages of a sorter named Stevenson in the Belfast office were stopped on the 28th of last month, the date on which he met with a bathing accident; if he can say whether it is customary in the Post Office for officials meeting with accidents of such a character to be dismissed from the service from the date of such an accident; and does the dismissal of Stevenson relieve the medical officer of any further responsibility for his medical treatment, and to what extent; and did this consideration count when the report leading to dismissal was prepared.

LORD STANLEY

I am making inquiry on the subject of the hon. Member's Question and will inform him of the result.
