§ CAPTAIN NORTONI beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether it has been brought to his notice that the metropolitan police authorities, in the examination of hackney carriages, after the vehicles have been inspected and passed for the year, have damaged the vehicles; and, if so, whether he will issue instructions to put a stop to this practice.
§ *MR. AKERS-DOUGLASThe Commissioner of Police informs me that only necessary tests are applied to the vehicles and in such a manner as not to injure them, but that a specific complaint has been received from a proprietor which is now being investigated.
