HC Deb 04 August 1904 vol 139 c964
DR. FARQUHARSON (Aberdeenshire, W.)

To ask the hon. Member for Chorley, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether his attention has been called to the condition of the painting by Watts, R.A., now hanging in a Committee Room; and whether he will arrange for its being removed to more appropriate quarters, or if this is not possible, he will consult a reliable expert as to its condition.

(Answered by Lord Balcarres.) This picture was in 1897 re-stretched by an expert and placed in the Grand Committee Room, as the only position available. The First Commissioner does not know of any other convenient situation in the building where it could be given sufficient wall-space. He proposes to ask for expert advice as to its condition.
