HC Deb 04 August 1904 vol 139 cc987-8
MR. TULLY (Leitrim, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners can give the number of proposed sales under the Irish Land Act, 1903, in which originating notices have been served, and which have been postponed or fallen through in consequence of the judicial decision that the bonus under Section 48 is not payable to the tenant for life.

MR. WYNDHAM

No estimate can be given of the very large number of cases in which a tenant for life refrains from selling until the intentions of Parliament in this matter are relieved from doubt.
