HC Deb 04 August 1904 vol 139 c997
MR. J. P. FARRELL

I beg to ask Mr. Attorney-General for Ireland whether, in view of the frauds perpetrated by officials of the Loan Fund Society of Edgeworthstown, he can indicate what relief can be obtained by debenture-holders who have lost their savings, owing to the failure on the part of the Central Board to properly supervise the work of the local officials.

THE ATTORNEY - GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. ATKINSON,) Londonderry, N.

The only fraud committed in connection with this society, of which the Loan Fund Board have knowledge, was that committed by a late clerk, named James Flower. In reply to the remainder of the Question, I have nothing to add to the Answer given by my right hon. friend to the hon. Member's previous Question of the 26th July.†
