HC Deb 02 August 1904 vol 139 c530
MR. FLYNN

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether managers of national schools may henceforward appoint assistant teachers in schools maintaining an average of daily attendance of fifty pupils.

MR. WYNDHAM

I have stated that the provision for effecting a reduction in the average attendance required for an assistant teacher cannot operate until funds have been placed at the disposal of the Commissioners. The revised Development Grant Estimate, to be laid on the Table in the course of a few days, will make provision in this respect, but no action can be taken by the Commissioners to give effect to it until the money has been voted by Parliament.
