To ask the Secretary of state for the Colonies if he can now state the number of immigrants into Canada for settlement during the year ending 30th June, 1903, distinguishing their nationality.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Lyttelton.) The number of immigrants reported to have declared their intention of settling in Canada during the year ended the 30th June, 1903, was as follows:—British,— English and Welsh, 32,510; Scotch,; 7,046; Irish, 2,236; total. 41,792. Continental, etc,—Galicians, 10,141; Germans, 1,887; Huugarians,2,156; Austrians, 798; Scandinavians, 5,448; French and Belgians, 1,240; Russians and Finns, 7,277; Miscellaneous, 8,152; total, 37,099. United States, 49,473; grand total, 128,364.
