HC Deb 29 April 1904 vol 134 cc14-5
MR. O'DOHERTY (Donegal, N.)

To ask the Postmaster-General if he will state what is the delay in having the trunk telephone system extended from Ballymena to Londonderry and Limavady; and whether he will see that the work is proceeded with forthwith.

(Answered by Lord Stanley.) The original proposal for the extension to Londonderry of the existing trunk line between Belfast and Ballymena would not, it appears, he sufficient to meet the demands which have now arisen. It is necessary, therefore, to prepare a more comprehensive scheme, and estimates are being obtained for this purpose. I hope it will be possible to announce the result in a short time.
