HC Deb 27 April 1904 vol 133 c1302
MR. CHARLES DEVLIN (Galway)

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether any, and, if so, what arrangements are being made for the establishment of a telephone trunk line between Dublin and Galway.

LORD STANLEY

The construction of a circuit connecting Galway with the general telephone system of the country would be very expensive, and I fear it could not be undertaken except under guarantee. Neither the Galway County Council nor the National Telephone Company have yet seen their way to give the requisite guarantee; but I am making further inquiry on the subject, and if any practical scheme can be arranged I will let the hon. Member know.
