HC Deb 20 April 1904 vol 133 c692
* SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury when he hopes to be able to introduce the Bill with regard to the hours of shop assistants and that dealing with the amendment of the Workmen's Compensation Act which form the proposals for labour legislation based on unanimous Resolutions of the House of Commons, and prominently mentioned in the Most Gracious Speech from the Throne.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

The Shops Bill is ready for introduction. The Workmen's Compensation Bill awaits the conclusion of the labours of the Committee which is considering the subject.

* SIR CHARLES DILKE

Is there any prospect of the Shops Bill being introduced soon.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

Yes, Sir. I hope there will be no long delay, but, as the right hon. Baronet knows, the present position of business is rather congested.
