HC Deb 14 April 1904 vol 133 c202
MR. BOLAND (Kerry, S.)

On behalf of the hon. Member for South Dublin, I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury if he can now give the name and qualifications of the architect for the proposed new College of Science at Dublin.

MR. VICTOR CAVENDISH

Mr. Aston Webb, President of the Royal Institute of British Architects, with whom will be associated Mr. T. M. Dean, an Irish architect who has already been engaged upon public buildings in Dublin.

MR. BOLAND

Why was not an Irish architect selected?

MR. VICTOR CAVENDISH

It was first offered to an Irish architect, but he could not see his way to undertake it. There is an Irish architect associated with Mr. Webb in the work however.
