I beg to ask the Postmaster-General if he will explain why several telegraphists at Limerick who do duty on the postal side are invariably employed or, minor duties in the sorting office; and whether he will arrange that these officers are afforded an opportunity of qualifying in counter and other duties, and of joining in the general rotation of duties.

The officers referred to have been employed on such postal duties as they had qualified themselves to perform. The postmaster has been instructed to give them full opportunities to prove their willingness and ability to perform higher duties in turn with others
