HC Deb 28 May 1903 vol 123 c109
DR. THOMPSON

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he will state what steps have been taken by the County Councils to appoint a medical officer of health for each county; and if he will direct the Local Government Board to impress on the County Councils the vital necessity of the appointment of such an official.

(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) County Councils, not being sanitary authorities, have no power to appoint medical officers of health for their respective counties.
