HC Deb 20 May 1903 vol 122 c1217
MR. BLACK

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether he will state the number of appeals to quarter sessions under Section 14 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act, 1828 during the years 1901 and 1902; and how many of these appeals issued in the reversal of the original decision.

THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. A. GRAHAM MURRAY,) Buteshire

The hon. Member will find on referring to page 121 of the Judicial Statistics of Scotland for 1901 that there were in all forty-six appeals to quarter sessions, in nineteen of which the certificate was granted, while in twenty-seven it was refused. The figures for 1902 are in course of collection but are not yet complete.

MR. BLACK

Will they be available for the Committee on the Licensing Bill?

MR. A. GRAHAM MURRAY

I am not aware.
