HC Deb 07 May 1903 vol 122 c36
MR. HENRY HOBHOUSE (Somerset, E.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if his attention has been drawn to the recommendations, Nos. 23, 25, and 33, of the Report of the Select Committee on Private Business which sat last session; and if he will propose or consent to the appointment of a Joint Committee of the two Houses to consider the revision of House fees and other matters mentioned in the recommendations.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I have been making inquiries into the subject matter of this Question. On the whole I am inclined to think that it would be advisable to appoint a conference between the Chairmen of Committees of the two Houses, together with the officials who are concerned in the conduct of private business. Whatever may be the ultimate decision of the Government, I think the course I have proposed would prove useful.
