HC Deb 07 May 1903 vol 122 c19
MR. THOMAS O'DONNELL (Kerry, W.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will explain why Mr. P. Cournane, of Castlemaine, county Kerry, has been refused a gun licence to use for the protection of his crops.

(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) The holding of the applicant extends to seven acres, of which two acres only are under tillage. The licensing officer, in whom is vested by law the discretion of granting or withholding a licence to keep arms, does not consider that the applicant in the present case requires a gun for the protection of his crops.
