I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state how many †See (4) Debates, cxviii., 1548. appointments have been made to the magistracy for the county of Down and the county of the city of Belfast, respectively, since the appointment of the Lord Lieutenant of that county; and can he state how many are Roman Catholics, Methodists, Episcopalians, and Presbyterians, respectively.

Twelve for the county Down, of whom six are Episcopalians, four Presbyterians, and two Roman Catholics. Appointments to the Commission of the Peace in the Borough of Belfast are made by the Lord Lieutenant.
