HC Deb 07 May 1903 vol 122 c33
MR. DOOGAN (Tyrone, E.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he is aware that tenants on the lands of Altmore, County Tyrone, are excluded from the benefits of the Land Acts by reason of the existence of a reversionary lease of their holdings which was made at a higher price prior to the Act of 1881; that the lessee soon after died in New Zealand, leaving no representative to claim possession, when the farms fell into reversion; and whether he will make provision in the coming Land Act to enable these tenants to purchase their farms.

MR. WYNDHAM

I am not aware of the circumstances of the particular estate mentioned, but if the hon. Member will furnish me with a full and precise statement, I will have inquiries made into the facts, with a view to seeing whether any Amendment of the Bill is necessary or desirable.
