HC Deb 06 May 1903 vol 121 c1510
* SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can inform the House what legislation is now in force in the Transvaal with regard to the ventilation of mines and protection of workers; and by what means and to what extent it is enforced.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Mr. J. CHAMBERLAIN, Birmingham, W.)

The law in force is No. 12 of 1898, and the Department of mines is responsible for its administration.

* SIR CHARLES DILKE

Can hon. Members interested in the question see the law?

MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN

If there is no copy in the Library I will see that one is placed there.
