HC Deb 26 March 1903 vol 120 cc292-3
MR. FLYNN (Cork, N.)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been called to the official correspondence in respect to the application of Cornelius Sullivan, postmaster, Kingwilliamstown, County Cork, for a retiring allowance; and whether, in view of the fact that this man gave a continuous service of nearly forty-seven years, the postal authorities will give favourable considerations to his case.

(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) The conditions of Mr. Sullivan's employment were not such as to render him eligible for any award under the Superannuation Acts, and I regret that I am unable, therefore, to obtain any pension or gratuity for him on retirement. The appointment of sub-postmaster which Mr. Sullivan held was, at his own request, transferred to his son.
