HC Deb 25 March 1903 vol 120 c174
MR. CHARLES MCARTHUR

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether an answer has been received by His Majesty's Government to the proposals made to the French Government with respect to the claims of British merchants for restitution and compensation for losses arising out of the action of the Concessionaire Companies in the French Congo; and whether he can state what is the present position of the negotiations on this subject.

* LORD CRANBORNE

Negotiations with the French Government are still proceeding, but in their present stage it would not be advisable to make any public announcement in regard to them.
