§ MR. O'MARAI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will state what proportion of the £35,000 received annually as quit rents, etc., from Ireland by the Commissioners of Woods and Forests is spent in Ireland.
§ THIS CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. RITCHIE, Croydon)The surplus income received annually by the Commissioners of Woods and Forests from quit, etc., rents in Ireland is paid into the Imperial Exchequer, from which of course Ireland receives grants. As this particular revenue is not earmarked, but merged in the general funds of the 1106 Exchequer, it is of course impossible to say how or where it is spent.
