Member for East Clare I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has any information that the Russian Government has objected to the Porte employing only German officers in the reorganisation of the Macedonian gendarmerie; and whether His Majesty's Government intend to make any representations to the Porte on this matter.
§ LORD CRANBORNEHis Majesty's Government have reason to believe that the Russian Government fully recognise the advantages of foreign instructors for the gendarmerie in Macedonia, provided they are not supplied by any of the Great Powers. The answer to the last Question is in the negative.
