HC Deb 17 March 1903 vol 119 cc994-5
COLONEL LOCKWOOD (Essex, Epping)

To ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether, in view of the accidents that have taken place in explosives factories, the Government will consider the possibility of paying a higher wage than is now paid to those employed in or around danger buildings.

((Answered by Lord Stanley.) The rate of pay for men employed on danger buildings is fixed on a special scale on account of the nature of their employment, and is higher than men of corresponding skill get elsewhere in the factories. The recent explosions do not seem reasons for revising this scale.
