To ask the Secretary to the Treasury how many promotions of senior assistant clerks (abstractor class) to the second division have been made under Clause 15 of the Order in Council of November, 1898; and whether he can; state the number of senior assistant clerks (abstractor class) who have been promoted to other posts, with the further certificate from the Civil Service Commissioners from 1890 to the present time.

The number of promotions of senior assistant clerks (abstractor class) to the Second Division, made under Clause 15 of the Order in Council of 29th November, 1898, up to the present time, is 110. The number of senior assistant clerks promoted to other posts, with the further certificate of the Civil Service Commissioners, from 1890 to the present time, is thirty.
