MR. HEYWOOD JOHNSTONE (Sussex, Horsham)

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury if he will consider the possibility of placing some of the clerks to the surveyors of taxes at the disposal of the chief inspector of taxes in England for temporary assistance in the offices of surveyors where there is a pressure of work, having regard to the fact that the inspectors of taxes in Scotland and Ireland have at their disposal for emergencies experienced clerks of this character, while the relief given in England is by the temporary engagement of inexperienced men who can render no real assistance.
