§ MR. O'DOHERTY (Donegal, N.)To ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will present to the House a Return giving particulars of the dates upon which the permanent way materials, rails, sleepers, rolling stock, and iron bridge work used in the construction of the Uganda Railway were purchased, the firms from whom they were obtained, and the prices paid therefor.
(Answered by Lord Cranborne.) The preparation of such a Return would involve a very large amount of time and labour, and in the interests of the public service the Secretary of State would hesitate to assent to it unless it could be shown to serve some purpose of importance.
