HC Deb 09 March 1903 vol 119 c93
MR. THOMAS O'DONNELL

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in the interests of Irish education, he will consider the advisability of allowing assistant teachers in Irish national schools of high classification and long service, who are at present in the third grade after ten years' service, to enter the second grade.

(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) The Commissioners have reserved to themselves, by Rule 195 (f) of the Code, the power of promoting assistant teachers beyond the third grade under exceptional circumstances. It is not considered desirable to make a rule of the general character suggested.
