MR. WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

To ask the Lord Advocate if he will state for what period during last year the public school at Tolsta, Island of Lewis, was closed on account of an epidemic of typhus or typhoid fever; are any schools in the Island now closed; and, if so, will he name them.

(Answered by Mr. A. Graham Murray.) Tolsta Public School was closed on 3rd July on account of an epidemic of typhoid fever, and was reopened on 24th December. The only school at present closed is Stornoway, Tong Public School.
