HC Deb 30 June 1903 vol 124 c921
MR. BOLAND (Kerry, S.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can state the day on which the Council of Malta was adjourned sine die; and whether he is in a position to say when, in the ordinary course of events, a general election would have taken place.

MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN

The suspension of the Standing Orders was moved by the Lieutenant-Governor on June 17th, in order to again submit the Education Estimates. The elected members opposed the Motion, which was thrown out, and it is presumed that the Council was adjourned sine die on that day. In the ordinary course of events a general election would have taken place early in 1903. † See (4) Debates, cxix., 1098.
