HC Deb 25 June 1903 vol 124 c555
MR. O'KELLY (Mayo, N.)

I beg to ask Mr. Attorney-General for Ireland if he has received a copy of the Return of Area, Valuation, etc., of Claremorris Union; and if he will now be willing to give a Return on the same lines for every union in Connaught.

THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL FOR IRELAND (Mr. ATKINSON,) Londonderry, N.

The hon. Member has sent me a copy of the Return referred to. The information in that Return was, it appears, procured locally by the board of guardians. There are no materials available, and no official sources of information at the disposal of Government, that would enable it to verify this Return; and for the reasons already explained by me to the hon. Member the Government is unable to consent to it.

In reply to a further question MR. ATKINSON pointed out that the information could be obtained from the board of guardians, but as the Local Government Board had no means of checking its accuracy they could not give it its imprimatur.
