HC Deb 24 June 1903 vol 124 c396
MR. WHITLEY (Halifax)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether the omission of the one-eighth perpetual rent-charge from the Irish Land Bill will be met by an increase of one-seventh in the annual purchase instalments, or by an extension of one seventh in the length of the purchase term.

MR. WYNDHAM

I am laying on the Table of the House this afternoon a Return which will illustrate the effects of the abolition of the perpetual rent-charge. I would ask the hon. Member to await this Return.

MR. HERBERT ROBERTS (Denbighshire, W.)

When does the right hon. Gentleman propose to put down the consequential Amendments?

MR. WYNDHAM

As soon as the first clause has been disposed of I hope to be in a position to put down many of the Amendments which are, in the view of the Government, necessary.
