HC Deb 22 June 1903 vol 124 cc78-9
MR. O'DOHERTY (Donegal, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he will state what, approximately, is the amount of money charged by way of mortgage on Irish landed estates.

MR. WYNDHAM

I am not in a position to give this information. There is no material officially available from which to ascertain it, but it is a matter of common knowledge that many properties are very heavily mortgaged.
