§ MR. FIELDI beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware of the fact that a proposition was made some years since by an official that the audit of a certain Irish Public Department could be more conveniently and efficiently carried on in Dublin; and, seeing that it was practically decided to appoint a permanent staff for the purpose, will he explain why the intention was not carried into effect.
§ THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. ELLIOT,) DurhamI have been unable to trace the proposal alluded to by the hon. Member. If he will give me details showing which was the Department in question, and in what year the proposal was made, I will give the matter my attention.
