HC Deb 15 June 1903 vol 123 cc939-40
CAPTAIN NORTON (Newington, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if he can say when the recommendations of the Committee appointed to consider the condition of the Army Veterinary Department will be brought into force, as the last meeting of this Committee took place in February; and, whether, seeing that there are now 35 vacancies in the Army Veterinary Department, and it is 20 per cent. below its authorised peace establishment, he will state how many candidates there are for these vacancies. † See (4) Debates, cxvi., 911.

*THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. BRODRICK,) Surrey, Guildford

The Report of the Committee is now under consideration. There are at present five candidates and thirty-six vacancies.
