HC Deb 11 June 1903 vol 123 c633
MR. FREDERICK WILSON (Norfolk, Mid.)

To ask the Secretary of State for War if he will explain why the number of rounds of ammunition allowed to each rifle volunteer for match shooting and private practice at the range has been reduced to ten; and whether he will reconsider this decision.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Brodrick.) A regulation has recently been promulgated which limits the expenditure on prize competitions and matches to ten rounds per efficient, in consequence of the desire of the military authorities that the ammunition available for private practice should be employed in improving the general musketry efficiency of the corps, rather than that it should be utilised for match shooting by a few experienced shots.
