HC Deb 10 June 1903 vol 123 c443
SIR BRAMPTON GURDON (Norfolk, N.)

To ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether Mr. John Sinderam has been appointed recruiting agent, at Port Herald, in British Central Africa, for the supply of native labour to the Transvaal mines; and, if so, whether this is the same John Sinderam, of the firm of Walker Brothers and Sinderam, who was prosecuted before Judge Nunan on 9th July, 1900, for gross brutality to natives in the collection of native labour, found guilty, and fined £250.

(Answered by Lord Cranborne.) We have no information of such an appointment, but an inquiry will be made.
