HC Deb 27 July 1903 vol 126 c315
MR. GEORGE KENYON (Denbigh)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the increase in the number of vagrants relieved in the Wrexham and other unions in the county of Denbigh; and, if so, whether he will introduce a measure giving more stringent powers to the guardians in dealing with vagrants.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) My hon. friend has furnished me with a statement showing that there has been an increase in the total number of vagrants relieved in the unions referred to during the last two years, though in the previous two years the number had decreased. The subject of the treatment of vagrants is under my consideration, but I cannot at present state what action it will be found desirable to take in the matter.
