HC Deb 23 July 1903 vol 126 c59
MR. EUGENE WASON (Clackmannan and Kinross)

To ask the Lord Advocate whether he is aware that on Sunday, the 12th instant, fifty-six salmon were taken from one part of the river Girvan in a sick or dying condition; and, if so, whether he will instruct the Local Government Board (Scotland) to make inquiry into the pollution of the river by which salmon and trout are annually destroyed.

(Answered by Mr. A. Graham Murray.) I am informed that owing to the low state of the river the fact is as stated by the hon. Member. The matter does not fall within the jurisdiction of the Local Government Board, no question of public health being raised. The question of pollution could be raised by the district fishery board or by any other riparian proprietor.
