To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland why the present Government, which has been in office for eight years, has never made any attempt to pass a measure dealing with the Loan Fund system in Ireland containing provisions tending to secure more regular and business-like attention to their duties on the part of the trustees and treasurers of the Loan Fund Societies.

(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) As already stated, the Government in 1900 introduced and passed into law a Bill framed to meet the most pressing of the difficulties of the Loan Fund system. The Act was admittedly a provisional measure, and if the Government, by further legislation, has been unable to
