MR. MARSHALL HALL (Lancashire, Southport)

To ask the Secretary of State for War by whose authority the band and pipers of the 1s Battalion Gordon Highlanders were advertised to give a performance (by kind permission of the colonel and officers of the regiment) on the pier at Southport, on Sunday 21st June last; and at whose instigation, and by whose authority, the performance was stopped after the hand and pipers had actually arrived at Southport.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Brodrick.) The Commander-in-Chief gave the orders for stopping the performance by the band because it was brought to his notice that irate money was to be charged for admission
