HC Deb 13 July 1903 vol 125 c402
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India if he will state how many miles of road have been surveyed and how many constructed between Darjeeling and the Tibetan frontier.

LORD GEORGE HAMILTON

I have no information that any new roads have been surveyed or constructed between Darjeeling and the Tibetan frontier, but steps have been taken to improve the sections of the existing trade routes nearest to Siliguri.

In answer to a further Question, Lord GEORGE HAMILTON said the trade roads in course of development were east of Darjeeling. He could not say whether arrangements had been made for an extension in the direction of Botham.
