§ MR. WEIRI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, if he will state how many pilgrims left Egypt for Mecca on the occasion of the last pilgrimage and the last but one; and will he say by what line of steamers they were required to travel.
§ *LORD CRANBORNEI am afraid I am not able to give the figures for which the hon. Gentleman asks. But on this subject I would venture to refer him to Lord Cromer's Report on the subject in "Egypt No. 1 (1903)." The pilgrims are required to travel by any line of steamers complying with certain conditions laid down by the Egyptian Government.
