§ MR. O'DOWD (Sligo, S.)I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether, and, if so, when, the Government will afford facilities for the introduction and passage through this House of a Bill to amend the law relating to contempt of Court in Ireland.
§ MR. FIELDMay I at the same time ask the First Lord of the Treasury, whether his attention has been directed to the condition of the law regarding imprisonment for contempt of Court; and whether the Government will consider the necessity of bringing in a Bill to regulate and define the powers to be exercised by a Judge in such cases.
§ MR. A. J. BALFOURI do not make any assertions as to the law on this subject being perfect in its present state, but I cannot promise to introduce legislation on the subject in the course of the present session.
