SIR HOWARD VINCENT (Sheffield, Central)

To ask the President of the Board of Trade it he can state what proportion of the wheat imported last year ostensibly from the United States was in reality of Canadian growth, owing to the railway facilities offered by the American companies and the shipping advantages from American ports; and, further, if the Intelligence Department of the Board 6f Trade is in possession of information as to the relative area of the land suitable for wheat awaiting development in the United States and in the Dominion of Canada respectively.

I regret that it is not possible to state what proportion of the wheat recorded in the Trade Accounts of the United Kingdom, as having been imported from the United States last year was of Canadian growth or vice versâ. The answer to the second portion of the Question is in the negative.
