To ask the Secretary of State for War if he can state whether the gun cotton that exploded in Woolwich Arsenal on Monday, 16th February, 1903, causing the death of two workmen, and injuring severely three others, was manufactured by private contract or at Waltham Abbey.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Brodrick.) This gun cotton was supplied by a private firm, and was under trial at the Arsenal.
