§ MR. EDMUND ROBERTSON (Dundee)I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether officers in the Navy 492 are permitted to spend their own money on services connected with their ships.
§ THE SECRETARY TO THE ADMIRALTY (Mr. ARNOLD-FORSTER,) Belfast, W.It is the policy of the Admiralty to provide for the supply of all stores necessary for the maintenance, upkeep, and decoration of ships, and the regulations are framed with the object of giving effect to that policy. It is necessary from time to time to review the issues of stores referred to, and at the present time the question of whether the supply is in all cases adequate is under consideration. Officers are not prohibited from spending their own money on services connected with their ships, but the practice is not encouraged.
